Dentures

Dentures are artificial teeth and gums used to replace missing teeth. They can either replace all teeth (full dentures), or some missing teeth (partial denture). In the case of partial dentures, they will use existing teeth to provide the support and grip for the denture. There are a variety of styles and options depending on the unique requirements of each mouth.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a biocompatible artificial root made out of coated titanium. It is inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Much like the natural root of a tooth, the implant acts as an anchor to hold an artificial tooth (or crown) in place to restore the form and function of the missing tooth. Multiple implants can also be used to support bridges and dentures.

Root Canal Treatments

When a tooth gets injured or infected from trauma or cavities, it can become uncomfortable when biting, to temperature, or even cause a pimple on the gums. Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, is the process of removing infected, injured or sick pulp tissues from the tooth. Once the tooth is clean from the inside, it is filled with medicine and sealed with white filling material. A root canal treated tooth usually requires a crown to protect the root canal and tooth from fracture.

Teeth Straightening (Children/Adults)

We offer a variety of different treatment options for straightening teeth including Invisalign, conventional braces and growth appliances/retainers. With Invisalign, for example, patients are able to achieve a straight and healthy smile using a series of clear, almost invisible, removable aligners. Braces and functional/growth appliances (retainers) can also be used. Orthodontics can start as early as age 8 to correct problems before they get worse over time.

Teeth Whitening

We offer professional whitening to help bring out the brightest smiles in our patients! Our whitening system consists of a blend of professional strength whitening agents providing comfortable, effective and safe results. We take molds of the teeth and fabricate personalized trays that safely administers the whitening gel to the tooth surface while protecting the surrounding gums. This allows safety, comfort and is the gold standard in whitening – providing predictable and consistent whiter teeth.

Hygiene (Dental Cleaning)

Professional dental cleaning is recommended in intervals of 3-6 months depending on each person’s oral health status. It consists of an oral evaluation, then using hand or ultrasonic instruments to remove the plaque and calculus (tartar) on the teeth and roots – also called “scaling”. Once the scaling is complete, the teeth are polished to remove surface stains to leave smooth tooth surfaces. The teeth are flossed, then a fluoride treatment is administered to protect teeth against acids and cavities. The specific times, intervals and treatment recommendations are customized to each person’s individual needs for optimal oral health.

Night Guard / Sports Guard

A customized and adjusted night guard is made to help protect the teeth, jaw muscles and jaw joints from clenching and grinding during the night. Some signs of grinding are wear and damage on teeth, tight or sore jaw muscles and tooth sensitivity. A sports guard is a different custom dental appliance that is made to protect the mouth and protect against concussion during activities that could result in blows to the face and head. They should be customized to your mouth and activity that is being participated in.

Sleep Apnea/Snoring Appliances

Sleep apnea oral devices are used to treat obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) by using a customized and carefully monitored appliance that comfortably positions the jaw and tongue forward to open the airway, improve airflow and reduce tissue collapse. They can improve sleep quality, reduce daytime sleepiness and reduce snoring and abnormal breathing.

Digital Radiographs

Digital dental X-rays are used to give highly detailed diagnostic images of teeth and surrounding structures to visualize cavities, roots, bones, nerves and more. They can also be preventative to spot early stages of disease so appropriate early intervention can be made. The type and frequency of radiographs are recommended based on individual health requirements. Even though modern dental digital sensors require very little, targeted exposure, care is taken to limit the dose to as little as possible.

Tooth Removal

Teeth sometimes need to be removed because they are too sick to be restored to health or pose another health risk.

Periodontal (Gum) Disease Treatment

Periodontal disease ranges from simple gum redness and bleeding, to major damage to the gums and bone that support the teeth. When gum disease is not treated, gums pull away from the teeth and form spaces (called “pockets”) that become infected. The bone, gums and tissue that support the teeth are destroyed. The teeth may eventually become loose and have to be removed. The dentist or dental hygienist removes the plaque through deep-cleaning in intervals of 3-6 months depending on the state of disease and may recommend other surgical or non-surgical interventions.

Crowns/Caps/Veneers, Bridges

CEREC Technology: To create beautiful and natural looking crowns, veneers and bridges in one appointment, an intraoral scanner quickly and comfortably images the teeth and tissues. Once in the computer, the dental restoration is designed, customized and created right away to complete a colour-matched ceramic filling, crown, veneer or bridge – conveniently completed in one visit.

Crowns/Caps: When a tooth is heavily damaged, a full coverage restoration to support and protect the remaining tooth structure may be indicated. A small amount of space is created on the tooth to accommodate the thickness of the crown material.

Veneers: Veneers are thin, customized ceramic restorations that are bonded to the front of teeth. They are mostly used for aesthetic purposes to cover up a darkened tooth, restore the size of a tooth and/or fill gaps between teeth.

Bridges (Fixed Partial Denture): A bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth between other existing teeth. The teeth on either side of the gap act as fixed anchorage for the bridge restoration. A bridge can be supported by natural teeth or implants.
