Replacing Missing Teeth
If one or more of your teeth are missing, there are a number of ways to replace them. If a tooth is lost, it is important to replace it with an artificial tooth as soon as possible. This will prevent the teeth that are left from drifting out of line and possibly causing further complications such as gum disease and cavities.
A dental implant is an artificial root made of titanium metal. It is inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of the natural tooth. Much like the natural root of a tooth, the implant acts as an anchor to hold an artificial tooth, or crown, in place to restore the form and function of the missing tooth.
A bridge is used to replace a missing tooth between two teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap which acts as anchoring teeth and false tooth/teeth in between. A bridge is supported by natural teeth or implants.
Treating Oral Problems
If either your gums or teeth causes extreme pain or discomfort, there’s likely an underlying health issue at risk here and should be treated immediately. Our staff is well versed and trained on how to treat a variety of issues so that you can quickly and safely recover your teeth and gums back to excellent health.
Periodontal diseases range from simple gum redness and bleeding to major damage to the gums and bone that support the teeth. When gum disease is not treated, gums pull away from the teeth and form spaces (called “pockets”) that become infected. The bones, gums, and tissue that support the teeth are destroyed. The teeth may eventually become loose and have to be removed. The dentist or dental hygienist removes the plaque through deep-cleaning in intervals of 3-6 months depending on the state of disease.
A tooth can become injured or infected and become uncomfortable when biting, to hot or cold, or even cause a pimple on the gums. Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, is the process of removing infected, injured or dead pulp from the tooth. Once the tooth is clean from the inside, it is than filled with medicine and sealed with white filling material. A root canal treated tooth usually requires a crown as the tooth becomes weak.
Giving you your best smile!
Looking to boost your confidence? We offer a variety of services to help you with a brighter, happier and healthier smile!
We offer a variety of different treatment options for straightening teeth including Invisalign and MTM (Minor Tooth Movement). With Invisalign, for example, patients are able to achieve a straight and healthy smile using a series of clear, almost invisible, removable aligners. Invisalign combines the doctor’s clinical treatment plan with proprietary 3-D, computer-generated software to make these sets of unique, custom-made Aligners that move teeth in very precise increments.
We offer in-office whitening to help bring out the brightest smiles in our patients! Our whitening system consists of a blend of professional strength whitening agents providing comfortable, effective and safe results. The process takes as little as 20 minutes using the light activated whitening system, and can result in 2-8 shades whiter with little to no sensitivity. We take molds of the teeth and fabricate personalized trays that safely administers the whitening gel to the tooth surface while protecting the surrounding gums. This allows safety, comfort and is the gold standard in whitening – providing 2-8 shades of brighter teeth.
Veneers are very thin lab-fabricated pieces of porcelain that are bonded to the front part of teeth. They are mostly used for aesthetic purposes to cover up a darkened tooth, restore the size of a tooth and/or fill gaps between teeth.
Technology that makes a difference!
We’re proud to offer services and technologies that can enhance the dental experience. Find out more about some of the technologies we have to offer.
Our office is proud to offer our patients the latest in convenience and comfort with dental CAD/CAM technology. This technology utilizes computer assisted design and manufacturing to allow us to complete a colour-matched ceramic tooth restoration – filling, crown or veneer – in a single visit. This technology uses bio-compatible, tooth-coloured materials, so your teeth won’t be discoloured by silver-coloured fillings.
